TSI (Turbocharged Fuel Stratified Injection) petrol engine – 1.8 litre, 118 kW
The TSI engine employs a combination of three advanced technologies, namely Stratified Direct Fuel Injection, Turbocharging and Variable Valve Timing, to develop higher performance than engines with larger capacity. Due to a smaller displacement, it consumes lesser fuel than engines with larger capacity. In effect, it is energetic and economical - two characteristics that do not generally work together in conventional petrol engines.
TDI CR (Turbocharged Direct Injection with Common Rail) diesel engine – 2.0 litre, 81 kW and 103 kW
The new SKODA Laura offers a diesel engine with TDI CR technology. The Common Rail fuel injection technology finely atomises the diesel fuel at high pressures of up to 1,800 bars. The high pressure of the CR system significantly improves the combustion of the fuel which results in improved efficiency and lower fuel consumption besides improved wider torque band.
Transmission
The new SKODA Laura comes in three different gearboxes. The Six-speed Manual transmission offers the driver more control especially when navigating steep slopes or uncertain roads. The Five-speed Manual Transmission is available in 2.0 Litre 81kW engine variant. The Six-speed Automatic transmission (DSG) enables imperceptible gear changes. The fuel efficiency of a DSG is as high as a manual gearbox, since the Tiptronic function allows operation of the DSG like a Sequential Manual Transmission.
